YDF Toolkit brings together GIZ, SAFA and the Seriti Institute

Johannesburg, 26 July 2013. On 25 July, the South African Football Association (SAFA), the Seriti Institute and GIZ joined hands to ensure that the legacy of the YDF Toolkit extends far beyond 2013.Despite their different backgrounds, the three institutions found ample common ground to cooperate and create a powerful partnership for the future.

SRSA DG welcomes home exchange program youth

Johannesburg, 09 June 2013.

Sport for Development is an emerging topic in South Africa that is gradually gaining established ground. Therefore 20 South Africans were given the opportunity to travel to Germany for a study trip where they received first hand experience of Sport for Development Initiatives in Germany that can have a huge impact on their work in South Africa.

Willi Lemke visits YDF in Mamelodi

Mamelodi, 11 February 2013. ‘The main reason for me visiting YDF and South Africa again is that we at the UN believe in sustainability. I am here to see what YDF has been doing after 2010, and to meet again with some of the youth leaders that I know from the UNOSDP Youth Leadership Camps and follow up on their development.’ Wilfried Lemke, Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General on Sport for Development and Peace, made time from his busy schedule to visit YDF in the township of Mamelodi.

YDF meets German football star Michael Ballack

Pretoria, 18 January 2013. On 18 January German football star Michael Ballack and UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibé were welcomed by German Ambassador Dr Horst Freitag at his residence in Pretoria. Michael Ballack is visiting South Africa as UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador to launch the new UNAIDS ‘Protect the Goal’ advocacy campaign.
